FORT ZACHARY TAYLOR
Fort Taylor beach is usually considered the 2nd best beach in the Key West area.
The beach is located at the Historic Fort Zachary Taylor State Park facility. They charge a small admission fee of $6 per car or $2 per person to access the beach and are open from 8:00 AM until sundown. They have some barbeque grills, picnic tables and shady areas to get out of the Florida sun. They also feature showers and a small rental business /gift shop that has a lounge area and supplies beach accessories, snacks and refreshments. Restrooms are located at the beach and you can access the beach through the Turman Annex.
SMATHERS BEACH

West, beautiful Smathers Beach. The beach
is quite long and is framed by numerous palm
trees and features a wide expanse of white
sand.
There are many rental huts populating
the beach area that provide rentals for just about
any water activity you can think of. There are
also vendors that supply a wide selection of
food and beverages with places to rest and get
out of the hot sun. The beach is great for kids
since you can wade out a long distance without going over their head and their isn't an undertow
to worry about. There is excellent parking, nice restrooms, bike trails, picnic benches, and always some volleyball action going on. The beach is located off of south Roosevelt Blvd. and of course is just steps away from your

.DOG BEACH
Not considered one of the better beaches in the Key West area, the aptly named Dog Beach is one of the favorites for locals to exercise their best friend with four legs. The beach is a little rugged which means it won't be too crowded (your pooch won't care). There are no businesses or amenities located at the beach. The beach is situated at Waddel and Vernon Street.
SOUTH BEACH
South beach is a nice little beach that is somewhat popular with the local population and is located in close proximity to some area restaurants. It's a decent beach for kids but a huge negative is the fact they have no restrooms on site or beach rental businesses. The sand is somewhat course and there is more aquatic plant life than some of the other beaches have but all in all it's not a bad little beach. .HIGG'S BEACH
Higg's Beach is not considered as one of the better beaches for swimming but none the less it is one of the more favored beaches for the local crowd. (probably because it's usually not too crowded)
Higgs does have nice caribbean setting with a fairly large beach area and is an adequate facility for amenities. It has rental places for water activities, beach chairs, a pier, and rest rooms. There is also a restaurant and some picnic areas available. The beach is located at the end of Renyolds Street.
